20 Years in New York!

Last night (Thursday 28th Feb 2014) the Empire State Building was lit up in red and white, to celebrate 20 years of STOMP in New York!

Stomp opened in a wintry February in 1994, in a huge snowstorm (48 inches of snow), which left Manhattan silent and in some places waist deep in snow. Although the elements conspired against us, the show prevailed, and it’s still playing at the Orpheum Theatre on the corner of 2nd Avenue and 8th Street.

For our 10th anniversary, that section of 2nd Avenue was renamed “Stomp Avenue” in our honour, and it’s just as much an honour to have the Empire State light up in our colours for the 20th.

The New York cast was there to celebrate, and there’s been lots of coverage in the media: see Theatre Mania, Broadway.com and BroadwayWorld for examples…

Congratulations to all the cast, crew and general management in New York!
